Biography

Joe Simon manages the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon solar homebuilding competition, supports the Race to Zero student design competition, and coordinates extensive technical assistance for a dozen solar startups annually for Energetics, Inc. and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. As a project manager focusing on special event management, creative competition design, optimizing the built environment through sustainable, energy-efficient design, development, and analysis, Mr. Simon works to enable and enhance the success of students, startups, and professional colleagues. A licensed Architect in Colorado, he has a Masters of Architecture, Master of Business Administration, and Bachelors of Science in Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and serves on the board of directors for Levitt Pavilion Denver, helping to build an open air amphitheater in Denver hosting 50 free concerts per year.
