Biography
Darrin Alfred is Curator of Architecture and Design at the Denver Art Museum. His curatorial projects at DAM include, Pattern Play: The Contemporary Designs of Jacqueline Groag (2015); Potters of Precision: The Coors Porcelain Company (2013); and The Psychedelic Experience: Rock Posters from the San Francisco Bay Area, 1965–71 (2009). Most recently, Darrin co-organized the exhibition, Serious Play: Design in Midcentury America, in conjunction with the Milwaukee Art Museum. His next exhibition concept will explore the term biophilia – the hypothesis that humans have evolved as beings deeply enmeshed with the intricacies of nature. From 2000–2007 Darrin worked at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and he has published essays on the design practices of Fernando and Humberto Campana, AG Fronzoni, Ali Tayar, and Bjorn Wiinblad, among other subjects.
