Welcoming the Storm:Why You Should Shoot Architecture in Inclement Weather
Photographer Parrish Ruiz de Velasco has two primary subjects: one that never moves, and another that never stops. Ruiz de Valasco is known for both his architectural photography and the storm chasing shots that have earned him a TIME Top Ten Photos of the Year award, with the latter significantly informing his approach to the former. The photographer has found that shooting architecture in inclement weather yields images where light, shadow, and ambience benefit and enhance the architecture’s forms, drawing the eye of prospective clients, buyers, and photography buffs. In this session, Ruiz de Valasco will share his work and make his case for why architects shouldn’t cancel a shoot due to weather, and instead embrace the elements in the documentation of their work.
