This course is intended for design and construction professionals interested in green building rating systems. It provides an overview of the Green Building Initiative’s Green Globes rating system with a primary focus on the New Construction (NC) program, which is based on an ANSI Standard. (1 hour AIA LU)

Learning Objectives:

  • Recall GBI’s mission to improve the built environment and reduce climate impacts by providing exceptional education, tools, standards, and assessments that deliver sustainable, healthy, and resilient buildings.
  • Review Green Globes’ flexibility features that encourage project teams with all types of commercial and multifamily buildings to participate in and certify for sustainable design and operation.
  • Review Green Globes New Construction questionnaires and the opportunity they provide for evaluating methods to achieve benefits such as energy savings, decreased maintenance costs and reduced environmental impacts.
  • Describe the Green Globes for New Construction assessment process, environmental assessment areas, scoring method and available supporting resources.
